'After Orel Mangala': Romano claims Nottingham Forest will now turn attention to 'absolute force'

Nottingham Forest have been busy in the summer transfer window, bringing in 11 players with another on the way.

According to Sky Sports, the Reds have agreed a £12.7m deal to sign Stuttgart midfielder Orel Mangala.

The 24-year-old will reportedly have his Forest medical on Tuesday ahead of signing for Steve Cooper’s side.

This will take the City Ground outfit’s summer spending to £73.5m, added the report.

But Forest aren’t done yet, with Fabrizio Romano providing a fresh transfer update on another Reds target.

Forest have been pursuing Real Betis left-back Alex Moreno over the past few weeks.

Now, Romano has tweeted that Forest will turn their attention to what they’ll do next over Moreno.

The Reds will ‘decide internally whether to make a new proposal’ for the 24-year-old after their first bid was rejected.

Romano added that Moreno agreed personal terms with the Premier League newcomers ‘weeks ago’.

However, there is yet ‘no agreement’ between Forest and Betis, said the transfer insider.

“The next level”

Moreno was a key player in the Betis side that won the Copa del Rey last season.

The 29-year-old has made 103 appearances for Betis since joining in 2019, contributing six goals and 11 assists.

Sportskeeda named Moreno in their top 5 underrated La Liga defender list earlier this year.

“This season, Alex Moreno took the step up from being an inconsistent talent to an absolute force down the left side,” they wrote.

“He had a fantastic season for Real Betis who are flying at the moment.

“The Spanish left-back managed to score five and assist three goals this season.

“Apart from that, he also averaged 1.93 tackles in the defensive third per game.

“He also carries the ball into the box 0.8 times a game and carries it into the final third 2.35 times per match.

“Moreno has really worked on his defensive output this season as well as his shooting to take him to the next level.”
