West Ham United have signed Kalvin Phillips on loan, and that may not be the end of their January business.
Indeed, while the Hammers have signed Phillips, they’re also still in the market for a new full-back.
Speaking on the Ranks FC Ultras Podcast, Dean Jones has shared an update on what the Hammers could do between now and the end of the transfer window, and he says that Leif Davis is a player that West Ham have definitely looked into signing.
Intriguingly, Davis was actually Phillips’ former teammate at Leeds United after graduating from the Whites’ academy.

West Ham want Davis
Jones shared what he knows about the left-back.
“I mean, yeah, the Leif Davis interest is real from West Ham, they have definitely looked into it. They want to sign a full-back here and now, but they want to sign another full-back who has value here and now, and I don’t think Davis is that guy right now. I think you’ll hold onto the player at the moment,” Jones said.
Unlikely
As much as this would be a fantastic signing for the Hammers, we can’t see this one getting over the line.
Ipswich are just a few months away from a potential promotion to the Premier League, and it’s hard to imagine that they will want to get rid of one of their most important players in the final week of the January transfer window with so much on the line.
Of course, for Davis, this is a move that would probably appeal. After all, West Ham are in Europe and pushing for a top six Premier League spot, but his current club may well have throw the brakes on this potential move as they focus on their own promotion hopes.
