After James Maddison, £27m Tottenham player could now return from injury next week

It now seems as if Ange Postecoglou will receive another big injury boost for his Tottenham Hotspur side next week.

Despite their strong season, the new Spurs boss has had to endure a number of destabilising injuries so far this campaign.

Perhaps Micky van de Ven was the biggest absentee, a testament to how well he’s settled under Postecoglou.

However, his importance also demonstrates how early Tottenham’s squad building is under their new manager, with the Dutchman having no natural replacement.

That being said, James Maddison’s return will also be extremely welcome this weekend against Manchester City.

And although Giovani Lo Celso may not quite be ready for that FA Cup match on Saturday, he should now be close to a return.

According to The Standard, Lo Celso could return for their Premier League match against Brentford next week.

The report states that both Tottenham and Postecoglou are being careful with his injury return, he won’t be rushed.

However, to have both Maddison and Lo Celso back in the squad, Spurs will be in a much stronger position.

Of course, there is also the point of view of a potential transfer away this month.

£27m Lo Celso has been linked with a move away in January, however, a move is now considered unlikely.

Postecoglou will surely now just be hoping that his injury luck at Tottenham now turns around in the new year.

Despite having a fairly light schedule in comparison to some, Spurs have suffered far too many issues.

When everyone is fit, this Tottenham team clearly has the ability to challenge for the title – something they’ll hope to prove.

Ange Postecoglou decided before the season that James Maddison would be the star man in this side.

And although the likes of Lo Celso and Dejan Kulusevski have done a fine job in the number ten role, it’s a hard task to replicate the England international.

Moreover, given this isn’t the first injury Maddison has suffered in his career, Postecoglou will be keeping his fingers crossed that his new Tottenham focal point doesn’t suffer a repeat.
