It is being reported that Everton made a move for Norwegian superstar Erling Braut Haaland.
ESPN reported yesterday that Everton could have signed Haaland for a fee in the region of €10 million (£8 million) in the summer of 2018.
However, they decided that the fee was too high and decided to back one of their own young talents. The player in question was Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Everton had paid Sheffield United a reported £1.5 million (Daily Mail) for Calvert-Lewin two years previously and he was just starting to make serious headway into the first-team at Everton.

Now, Calvert-Lewin is starting to repay that faith. After years of being criticised for his lack of a killer edge in front of goal the 22-year-old has been in fine form this season, scoring 15 goals in 32 games for the Toffees.
Of course, he has some way to go before he can claim to be on the same page as Haaland.
The Norwegian has had an incredible breakout campaign, scoring an incredible 40 goals in 33 games this season. His form in Austria with Salzburg also earned him a £17 million (Daily Mail) move to Borussia Dortmund.
But Everton will be hoping Calvert-Lewin can continue improving and become their very own Haaland going forward.
