Arsenal starlet Krystian Bielik put in a solid performance for Poland U21s against Belgium at the European Championships.
The 21-year-old, who spent 2018/19 on loan at Charlton Athletic and helped the team win promotion, was quoted last week as saying he wants a shot in the Gunners first-team.
He said (quoted by The Sun): “My future is unknown but there is one thing I can say for sure: I will definitely not go back to Arsenal Under-23 team.
“I feel like a senior player now so I want to play senior football.”
Bielik’s contract will run out next summer, but the player is keen to quit the club if he does not receive assurances from first-team manager Unai Emery.
He definitely strengthened his case with a great showing against Belgium on Sunday.
It was about the best possible start to the Championships for Bielik after he spoke out about his future last week.
His solid showing will definitely not harm his chances of stepping up to the first-team.
He and the Gunners faithful will only hope Emery caught the game.
With Shkodran Mustafi a liability and Laurent Koscielny past his best, Bielik could well save Arsenal millions in the transfer market this summer.
