After being seen at the Emirates Stadium in October, £50m player who called Arsenal a “top team” is now in talks to join

Mikel Arteta is now focused on improving his attack, after several transfer windows where that area was neglected.

Arsenal have only signed six attackers since the Spaniard replaced Unai Emery back in December 2019, with some barely even worth mentioning, such as Marquinhos and Willian.

The Gunners have instead recruited heavily when it comes to defensive additions, which has made them tough to beat, but consequently lacking fluidity in attack at times.

Mikel Arteta and Andrea Berta – Director of Football at the Emirates Stadium – at least seem to be aware of this fact, however, as talks are now taking place between Arsenal and West Ham over the signing of Mohammed Kudus.

Arsenal speaking to West Ham about Mohammed Kudus deal

Football Transfers now claim that Arsenal are in discussions to sign the Ghana international from West Ham.

It is said that Kudus – who has already called Arsenal a “top team” – is aiming to leave the London Stadium this summer after a frustrating 2024/25 campaign, in which West Ham finished 14th and had two different managers in Julen Lopetegui and Graham Potter.

The man from Accra has, however, previously displayed flashes of brilliance.

These significant changes in the dugout did not appear to help the Ghanaian, as he scored just five goals in 32 Premier League appearances.

The West Ham No.14 has a €100m (£84m) release clause in his contract at West Ham, although TBR Football understand Arsenal are not prepared to spend more than £50m on Kudus this summer.

Mohammed Kudus recently paid Arsenal a visit

It is unclear whether the trip was related to any potential transfer, but the 24-year-old was recently spotted at the Emirates Stadium in October, when Arsenal met PSG in the league phase of the UEFA Champions League.

Kudus watched on as goals from Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz secured a 2-0 win for Arsenal against the eventual UEFA Champions League winners.

Arsenal closer to signing another attacker in Benjamin Sesko

It remains to be seen how far these talks between Arsenal and West Ham progress, but the Gunners are currently engaged in more advanced discussions to sign a different forward.

TBR Football understand Arsenal are making progress in talks to sign Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig, in a deal which could cost as much as £70m.

The Slovenia international is unproven in the Premier League, but after scoring 21 goals in 45 appearances last season, it is a deal for Arsenal fans to get excited about.
