Fabrizio Romano has provided a transfer update on Arsenal academy talent Lino Sousa as he edges closer to a move to Aston Villa.
Over the course of the past day or so, speculation linking the Gunners youngster with a switch to the Villans intensified.
Romano declared “here we go” on Sousa to Villa on Wednesday afternoon, saying Arsenal and the Villans had reached an agreement over a permanent move.
And early on during transfer deadline day, Romano took to X to claim that “all documents” regarding Sousa’s move have been signed.
As soon as Villa sign the 19-year-old from Arsenal, they will loan him out to Championship side Plymouth Argyle, added the transfer insider.
“All documents have been signed for Lino Sousa to join Aston Villa from Arsenal on contract valid until June 2028,” wrote Romano.
“Same for contracts ahead of loan to Plymouth until the end of current season, it’s all sealed.”
Arsenal focusing on outgoings during transfer deadline day
Arsenal, like many other Premier League clubs, haven’t been able to do much business on the incoming front due to FFP constraints.
So far, the Gunners have focused on outgoings. Alongside Sousa, Bradley Ibrahim is set to leave the Emirates Stadium for good. And Alex Runarsson has officially left.
Meanwhile, Arsenal winger Marquinhos is reportedly edging closer to a loan move away from N5.
It’s a shame to see Sousa closing in on a permanent move away from the Emirates Stadium.

When he joined the Gunners from West Bromwich Albion two years ago, he was being spoken of as one of the best youngsters in the country (The Athletic).
However, Aston Villa look set to get their hands on a top talent in Sousa.
They’ve already arranged a loan move away for him to get more experience and then in the summer he’ll likely get a chance in pre-season.
