Lyon defender Marcelo – who was linked with West Ham United in 2018 – reportedly wants to leave the club.
The Brazilian was at the centre of some ugly scenes this week, when a supporter ran onto the pitch after the Champions League game with RB Leipzig holding a banner with a donkey on it with the message ‘Leave the club Marcelo’.
A scuffle ensued as ultras invaded the pitch, with Memphis Depay heavily involved.

According to RMC Sport, Marcelo told his teammates in the dressing room that he wished to quit the club as a result of the incident, and is ‘concerned for his safety’ in the city.
Apparently Lyon will now let him look for a new club next month – and the Hammers may wish to reignite their previous interest.
TBR’s view – West Ham need defensive reinforcements
West Ham are crying out for a bit of defensive solidity at the back having been shipping goals aplenty of late.

The club were linked with a move for the South American in the summer of 2018, but Lyon stood firm with their asking price of €20 million/ £18 million. (Le Dauphine).
Given the situation, and the fact his contract expires in 18 months, Lyon could be willing to take a lower fee.
Marcelo may be 32, but his experience and leadership could come in very handy for the Hammers, whose backline has been in disarray recently.
