Declan Rice has hit the ground running since joining Arsenal in the summer.

The former West Ham midfielder joined the Gunners for a huge fee in the last transfer window, and many wondered whether or not he had what it takes to make such a step up to a top club.

Well, Rice has taken this move in his stride, and on Saturday against Wolves, he put in arguably his best performance yet for Arsenal.

Speaking on Off The Ball, Pat Nevin has been full of praise for Rice’s showing against Wolves, claiming that he looked streets ahead of anyone else on the pitch, so much so that he looked like he was an adult playing against children at times.

Rice was incredible against Wolves

Nevin shared his verdict on the midfielder.

“There was a guy out there who looks like an adult playing with children and that was Declan Rice, it was that extreme, he was that far above, he was reading everything that well, back to Alexander-Arnold, you say put him in there for England, well you have to get by Declan, he was stunning in that game,” Nevin said.

“Everyone was talking after the game about Saka, about Jesus and Odegaard’s great moments, but Rice was playing with the grown-ups, he was just brilliant.”

Dominant

Watching Declan Rice take a game by the scruff of the neck like this is a joy to behold.

Rice does have certain games where he could do more, granted, but when he’s at his best, he can make opposition teams look like children, as Nevin says.

Physically, mentally and technically, he has what it takes to be two or three steps ahead of his opponent when he’s on his game, and it’s truly brilliant to see Premier League footballers left so helpless against the midfielder in games like this.

Rice was fantastic at the weekend, and if we see that sort of showing every week, Arsenal could certainly win the league.
