Adrien Rabiot snub could help Tottenham Hotspur sign Riqui Puig

Tottenham Hotspur look unlikely to get their hands on Adrien Rabiot. As reported by Le10 Sport, the Frenchman has told Spurs he is not interested in joining the North London club. The French side were said to be keen on selling to Spurs, rather than lose him on a free transfer in the summer.

However, Rabiot appears to have Barcelona on the mind. Whilst nothing has been confirmed, it appears a move to Nou Camp is the most likely one for the Frenchman.

Which may, in turn, play into Tottenham’s hands.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is known to be a big fan of Barcelona youngster Riqui Puig. Last summer he was heavily linked with a move to Spurs, before agreeing to a new deal at Barcelona including a massive €100 million (£90.3 million) release clause, as reported by Marca.

When Pochettino was spotted watching Barcelona B in action during the most recent international break, it was swiftly reported that the player he was watching may have been Puig.

If Rabiot arrives, and with Carles Alena also progressing, it will be a further barrier to first-team football for the youngster. At which point, Tottenham would seem a far more attractive prospect, with first-team football far more likely in London.

So Rabiot’s snub might help Tottenham get a known favourite of Pochettino’s through the door.
