Matteo Guendouzi has drawn praise from former Arsenal midfielder Adrian Clarke after an impressive start to his second season with the Gunners.
As per the official Premier League website, Clarke expressed just how impressed he has been with the 20-year-old midfielder.
He said: “Guendouzi has looked at home ever since making his Gunners debut. Arsenal’s impressive midfielder has emerged as a must-pick this season. In powerhouse performances against Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa, the Frenchman almost single-handedly dragged Arsenal back from losing positions.
“He wants to receive the ball and make passes as often as possible. Passing accurately and with enormous regularity, the player with just 41 appearances stamps his authority on matches like a seasoned pro. Guendouzi’s purposeful passing and forward surges in support of Arsenal’s attack are highlights of his play.”
TBR’s View – Guendouzi one of the brightest spots of Arsenal’s season
Arsenal have needed a combative, physical streak for a number of seasons and although Guendouzi’s game is not refined, he has provided that where more experienced players have failed.
That makes him one of the brightest spots of this Gunners campaign, where they are still searching for their identity under Unai Emery.
They are showing signs of greater intensity, being driven forward often by Guendouzi in games where quality isn’t enough.
