Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Adama Traore is yet to hit the ground running at Molineux.

Signed for a club-record £18 million from Middlesbrough last summer, big things were expected from the ex-Barcelona prospect.

It’s been a slow start for Traore, who has made only six starts in the Premier League.

He has managed just one goal and one assist since his move to the Midlands and many will have expected a better return for what the club paid for him.

One continual criticism of Traore’s game is the fact that his final ball tends to let him down, and that’s something the player is aware of.

He admitted, as quoted by The Express & Star: “The important thing for me is not just to be about pace, the important thing is improving my final end [product].

“I think I can do miles better. Nuno wants me to improve so I can play as a striker and I think I can do it.”

Traore’s numbers have to improve

It’s good that Traore recognises his biggest weakness, as he can take steps to improve on the training ground.

Certainly for the money that was paid, Traore’s numbers in terms of goals and assists need to be better.

He has the physical tools to be a hit in the Premier League – his pace and power is second to very few in the division.

When Traore’s crossing and finishing improve, then Nuno Espirito Santo will certainly have a fearsome player on his hands.
