Adam Lewis recently departed Liverpool on loan, signing for French outfit Amiens SC on loan for the duration of the 2020/21 campaign.

The 20-year-old recently penned a new long-term deal at Liverpool last month and this loan deal will be viewed as integral in his development.

A versatile defender, Lewis has risen through the academy ranks at Anfield and made his senior debut in the FA Cup against Shrewsbury Town last season.

The full-back has been with the Reds since he was five-years-old and he will have a firm desire to make the grade at Anfield.

It really is now or never for Lewis, however, and he must take this opportunity out on loan to show people exactly what he is capable of.

The fact he was recently given a new deal will have done wonders for his confidence, but he must now show that the can do it week in and week out in men’s football.

Lewis typically operates at left-back but has also been known to play in the holding role in midfield.

Time to shine

With that in mind, he probably would be a useful player for Klopp to call upon at some point, although the ball is firmly in his court.

Amiens are operating as a second-tier club next season following their relegation. That should allow Lewis plenty of game time at a level he really needs to be excelling in.

Jurgen Klopp has shown a willingness to utilise the club’s younger players and Lewis must now show he has the desire to step up when he returns from France.

Lewis must look at the likes of Curtis Jones, Neco Williams and Harvey Elliott with a certain degree of envy and he now needs to show he can emulate those players.

Playing football is the primary objective of Lewis’ loan but he would be wise to use the stint away from Anfield as a catalyst to show Klopp that he can cut the mustard at Liverpool in the future.
