Adam Lallana shares what Henderson said to him about Jude Bellingham

Adam Lallana has told The Times that Jordan Henderson was genuinely excited when they once spoke about Jude Bellingham, and suggested that the reported Liverpool target would annoy him if they faced each other.

Everyone is incredibly intrigued to see how Bellingham fares at the World Cup. There is surely no way that Gareth Southgate can hand him anything other than a vital role in England’s side.

Understandably, plenty of Reds fans will want to see the 19-year-old at Anfield in the future. And it would appear that Henderson would be just as happy to see him join the club.

Lallana was discussing Bellingham in his article with The Times. He talked about what he would expect it to feel like to play against him. And he shared how Henderson had spoken about him in a previous conversation.

“There have been lots of times, especially over the past 18 months, when I have imagined what it would be like to play against Jude Bellingham in midfield. I think he would annoy me — and I mean that in the nicest possible way. He would be like a rash, all over me constantly, which you don’t want as a midfielder,” he said.

“I have shown a special interest in Jude since speaking to Jordan Henderson about him a couple of years ago,” he added.

“They had trained together with England and I remember Jordan saying to me: “Wait until you see this kid.” Don’t forget Jordan’s international career has overlapped with Foden, Bukayo Saka, Jack Grealish, Marcus Rashford and lots of others. There was a genuine sense of excitement in his voice.”

Bellingham’s form over the coming weeks will surely go some way to deciding how seriously clubs pursue him next summer.

Dortmund reportedly want a huge sum. And there may be worries about whether he is ready to handle that level of expectation.

But many of the eyes of the football world are now on him. Should he thrive in Qatar, clubs will surely feel that the time is right to make their move.

Clearly, Henderson will be hoping that Liverpool are right in the mix when the time comes for Bellingham to leave Dortmund.
