Adam Lallana sends classy Instagram message to Liverpool after Brighton defeat

Liverpool’s title hopes took another humongous hit on Wednesday night as Brighton came to Anfield and secured a second successive scalp in the space of a week after beating Tottenham last weekend – and Adam Lallana has posted on Instagram.

Without the likes of Alisson, Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Sadio Mane and plenty of others, Liverpool were still expected to see off the challenge of Brighton who remain near the bottom of the table and firmly in a relegation battle.

But the Seagulls had not read the script. Defending well, Graham Potter’s men were excellent in getting bodies forward but retaining their shape immediately. Indeed, Steven Alzate scored his first Premier League goal to secure a 1-0 win.

The win saw Liverpool slip to seven points behind Manchester City, and only in the top four by a thread. Everton are four behind, but boast two games in hand. However, Lallana sent a classy message to the Reds in the midst of their struggles.

TBR’s view – Can Liverpool turn this around?

Clubs are growing in confidence when they face Liverpool and that is always hard to get over. Michael Owen also raised a good point on Premier League Productions following the defeat – that the Reds play better against the better teams.

A win against Manchester City would be enormous. It would almost halve the gap and bring Liverpool right back into the race for the title. But a defeat and they can wish their title dreams goodbye. Yes, they can turn it around – but they must beat City.
