Thiago Alcantara posted a message on Instagram after completing his move to Liverpool, which promoted a response from the club’s ex-player Adam Lallana.

The Reds confirmed the signing of the 29-year-old on Friday, who has moved to Anfield on a four-year deal from Bundesliga and Champions League champions Bayern Munich.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have signed the central midfielder for £20million (BBC) and he’s joining the team to try help them defend their Premier League crown this season.

Thiago is an experienced central midfielder that is technically gifted on the ball and has a range of passing to unlock most defences, something he’s shown during a high-profile career so far.

He’s been a serial winner from his time with Barcelona and Bayern, but is now going to test himself in English football for the first time in his career and it will be intriguing to see how he deals with the physicality.

Thiago posted a message on social media claiming “challenge accepted” following his transfer.

Brighton midfielder Lallana, who left in the summer after six years with the Merseyside club, has hailed the signing made by his former club.

TBR’s View:

Liverpool were by far the best team in the Premier League last season as they raced to the title at a canter, but with teams strengthening below them it’s important that they don’t stand still.

Klopp has managed to get a deal over the line for a top-class midfielder that will give their side something new in the centre of the park, as Thiago’s vision and creativity may inject even more firepower to a team that usually score goals for fun.

The club will be delighted with winning a Premier League title and a Champions League title in the past couple of years, but they want a period of domination again and strengthening their XI each season is key.
