Adam Forshaw has heaped praise on Leeds United teammate Pablo Hernandez in an interview with the Talking Shutt podcast, describing the Spaniard as one of the best players he has ever played alongside.

Hernandez, 34, is now in his fourth season at Elland Road after initially joining Leeds on loan from Al-Arabi Sports Club – before signing a permanent deal with what was Garry Monk’s side in January 2017.

He has since clocked up 130 appearances in all competitions for the Yorkshire giants, providing the creative spark in leeds’ push for promotion since then. He has been involved in more than 60 goals – scoring 29 and creating a further 32.

Forshaw was asked to name the best player he has played with Leeds, and the former Middlesbrough, Brentford and Everton winger named veteran Hernandez – who is currently in the final months of his contract at Elland Road.

“Pablo,” Forshaw said, when asked about the best player he had played with for Leeds. “He is one of the best players I’ve every played with, nevermind Leeds. He is just the type opf player that makes things happen.

You’ve got to try and give him the ball at every opportunity. You need players like that in your team.”

TBR’s view – Leeds must heed comments and extend Hernandez deal

Hernandez’s contract expires at the end of the season and although injured at the moment, the former Valencia and Swansea star has got to stay at Leeds – whether they get promoted or if they remain in the Championship.

That means Leeds have got to offer Hernandez a new deal. With his current deal expiring in the next summer of 2020, Leeds must do all they can to keep Hernandez in a white shirt.
