Adam Forshaw picks Leeds player that has stood out during training return

Adam Forshaw has told the Leeds That podcast that Tyler Roberts has stood out during Leeds United’s return to training, claiming the injury-prone attacker looks in “good shape”.

Roberts, 21, has clocked up just 45 appearances for Leeds since joining the Whites in January 2018. A number of injuries have prevented the former West Brom star from clocking up more game time.

However, prior to the the suspension of football, Roberts had hit some form – scoring an excellent brace in a 4-0 win over Hull City during a 23-minute substitute appearance. It saw Roberts show his best, though only briefly.

Still very young, the Wales international is thought of highly by Leeds fans and supporters will be delighted to hear Forshaw claim that Roberts has returned to training in “sharp” fashion ahead of June 21’s return to action.

“I haven’t watched any of the sessions because I’m working by myself,” Forshaw said. “But condition-wise, Tyler Roberts looks in great shape. I spoke to Stu Dallas and seen Tyler getting in his car, looking lean. Stu said he has been so sharp in training. He’s got some ability, he’s been unfortunate with injury but he could play a huge part.”

TBR’s view – Can Roberts finally show why Leeds spent big?

The Daily Mail claimed following the announcement of Roberts’ move to Elland Road that the youngster had cost Leeds a whopping £4.5million. In glimpses, he has shown why he could be worth that.

But a lack of consistency has hardly made Roberts value for money, so far. Luckily for the Gloucester-born attacker, he has plenty of time on his side and steering clear of injury, he can finally prove his price tag.
