Robbie Gotts has left Leeds United on loan to join Michael Appleton’s League One side Lincoln City in what is his first move away from the club – and Kalvin Phillips, Adam Forshaw and Joe Gelhardt have reacted on Instagram.
Gotts, 20, is considered one of the best talents to break into the senior side – following the likes of Jamie Shackleton, Leif Davis, Jack Clarke, Pascal Struijk and more from the under-23 side during Marcelo Bielsa’s reign.
But Gotts has reason to be frustrated. The aforementioned players have been given a regular chance by Bielsa, but Gotts has been afforded just three senior appearances – only getting a substitute appearance against Hull in the Carabao Cup.
Bielsa even claimed in a press conference last season that he felt sympathy for Gotts, as the youngster had done nothing wrong and deserved more of a chance. Now, Gotts has posted on Instagram after he completed a move to Lincoln.
The likes of Kalvin Phillips, Mateusz Klich and Pablo Hernandez are first choice, while Shackleton, Adam Forshaw, Tyler Roberts, Rodrigo Moreno and others are ahead of Gotts in the pecking order under Bielsa.
Phillips stated he is “going to miss” Gotts, while Forshaw ordered the young midfielder to show everyone what he is all about. Under-23 teammate and £1million (Sun) summer signing Gelhardt simply said “love it”.
