Adam Forshaw has admitted he’s surprised how good Leeds teammate Pablo Hernandez really is and stressed his importance at Elland Road.

Hernandez, 34, is an experienced member of the Whites squad and led by example.

The attacking midfielder has made 38 appearances in the Championship this campaign, scoring 12 goals and supplying 12 assists in return.

Marcelo Bielsa’s team have one league game remaining before the play-offs and they are going to need their creative playmaker at his best to succeed.

Forshaw has explained how valuable Hernandez is within the Leeds group and admits he always looks to find him on the pitch.

“Even last year when I came in I was surprised how good he was to be honest. He takes the ball anywhere on the pitch, constantly trying to make things happen,” Forhsaw told LUTV.

“Has the character and personality to really want to drive the team forward. I say to him before games I’ll always look for you.”

Hernandez has been the outstanding Leeds player this season and perhaps that could extended to the entire division.

His team are usually at their best when he dictates play and he just sees everything quicker than his opponents.

Forshaw is another one of the more experienced members of the Leeds squad and the central midfielder is going to have a big role to play in getting the team through the play-offs.

They will be facing Derby County as it stands in the two-legged semi-finals, with West Brom or Aston Villa the opponent in the final.

But that could still change on the final day of the season and it will be intriguing to see if manager Bielsa rests any players away to Ipswich Town.
