Jamie Carragher has told CBS Sports Golazo that Darwin Nunez definitely has something about him, as he suggested that his numbers since his move to Liverpool are actually scary.
Nunez only featured for the final 17 minutes plus stoppage-time of the Reds’ Champions League clash with Napoli on Tuesday. But the Uruguayan certainly managed to make a major impact.

He got the assist for the first and then got the crucial second in the 98th minute to seal the victory. Unfortunately for Liverpool, it was not enough to earn them top spot in their group.
Darwin Nunez lauded after Liverpool win – numbers are actually scary
But the result will go some way to restoring some confidence after their last two Premier League results. And for Nunez, it is another reminder of the potential he does possess.

The 23-year-old now has seven goals and two assists in 15 games in all competitions. He has however, only been on the pitch for 743 minutes.
And while Carragher is wary of getting carried away about Nunez’s form, he insisted that there is reason to be extremely optimistic about what the future could hold for the forward.
“It’s really interesting watching Nunez, he comes on and makes a huge impact. And he hasn’t set the world alight. He’s not done what Haaland’s done, and people were expecting more for the price-tag. But when you actually look at the minutes he’s been on the pitch and how many goals he’s scored per minute, his numbers are actually scary,” he told CBS Sports Golazo.
“He’s actually made a huge impact. But there’s still something not quite there where Jurgen Klopp’s going to play him every single game. He’s very, very raw. But I think there’s something – special’s probably a bit much – but there’s something about him.”
Liverpool star needs to kick on after another impressive cameo
Carragher went on to compare Nunez with Fernando Torres due to his power and pace, but also his technical shortcomings in open play.
It is really hard to know whether Nunez will deliver on his full potential at Anfield. Obviously, there is plenty of evidence to suggest that he will come good.
But it is also fair to say that it has not quite clicked for the youngster so far. That is to be expected given the upheaval amongst Liverpool’s frontline in recent months.
It is not only down to Nunez. Jürgen Klopp and the rest of the Liverpool squad need to help create the platform from which he can kick on.
But the signs seem a lot more positive after Tuesday.
