Everton have recently been linked with a move for their namesake Brazilian international Everton ‘Cebolinha’ Soares.
As relayed by the Liverpool Echo, the Gremio star has been linked with a potential €35 million (£30m) move to Goodison Park. Everton have reportedly spoken with Kia Joorbachian about a potential deal for the 14-cap international.
The Iranian super-agent also represents Richarlison, with whom Everton recently agreed a new contract, and has strong links with majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri.
But if Everton are to sign the player, they will have to overcome some serious competition.
AC Milan have long been linked with the player and it was widely expected they were going to snap him up after the Copa America in the summer. However, Cebolinha stuck around and now the Toffees are serious transfer contenders.
Tuttosport is now reporting that Milan, who are struggling in Serie A, are back in for the player.
They report that a Milan member of staff watched Everton Soares in action against Sao Paulo recently and that the Rossoneri are considering another move for the player.
One thing in Everton’s favour is that Milan cannot reportedly complete any deal until the end of the season, due to Financial Fair Play regulations, whilst Everton are hopeful of a January deal for the 23-year-old.
But Milan remains a huge name in European club football and Everton will face a huge task attempting to beat them to the signature of their namesake target.
