A number of Sunderland fans have taken to Twitter to praise Carl Winchester for his impressive Black Cats performance on Tuesday night.
The 27-year-old joined the Stadium of Light outfit from League Two side Forest Green in January, penning a two-and-a-half-year deal after moving for an undisclosed fee.
Winchester, a Northern Ireland international, has made 10 appearances to date for Sunderland, four of which have been starts.

On Tuesday night, Sunderland gave their League One promotion hopes a huge boost as they ran out 2-0 winners at Portsmouth.
After a tense opening period, Sunderland took the lead when Charlie Wyke was on hand to power home a header from Jordan Jones’ corner.
In the second half, the Rangers loanee took advantage of poor defending to lob a great finish over the Pompey keeper from a tight angle.
Lee Johnson made a bold call in starting Winchester but he repaid his manager’s faith with a tidy and combative display.
Winchester is improving with each passing game and plenty of Sunderland fans were eager to sing his praises during and after the game:
