Chelsea drew 4-4 with Manchester City this weekend and Alan Shearer has lauded the performance of Raheem Sterling.
Sterling was one of the stars of the show as he netted against his former club and put on a masterful display where he caused havoc for the City defence.
Sterling, though, has missed out on a call up to the latest England squad and has even been ignored today, with teammate Cole Palmer getting the nod ahead of him instead.

However, selecting Sterling in his latest team of the week for Premierleague.com, former England skipper Shearer was full of praise for the Chelsea star and admitted he’s unlucky not to be selected by Gareth Southgate.
“Absolutely superb. Unlucky not to be in the England squad,” Shearer said of Sterling.

Sterling is not alone in this team of the week and has Cole Palmer in there as well alongside him.
The two former City players were arguably the best on the pitch and Palmer’s late penalty showed nerves of steel.
However, it was the performance of Sterling that really caught the eye. The former Liverpool man looked back to his very best and looks to be fully justifying the £45m Chelsea paid for him.
You get the sense that Chelsea are slowing building something under Mauricio Pochettino and at the moment, Sterling is a key part of that.
Despite being nowhere near being in the twilight of his career just yet, Sterling is proving to be a real leader among this young Chelsea squad and yesterday proved it.
Blues fans will be delighted with what they’ve seen in recent weeks and while there’s plenty to work on, there’s a lot to be cheerful about.
Sterling is one of those reasons and if he can continue this form, then the Blues might well just cause a bit of disruption as the season continues into 2024.
