'Absolutely perfect': Lee Dixon amazed by 'incredible' Tottenham player's passing at the World Cup

Harry Kane’s cross for Phil Foden’s goal in England’s 3-0 win over Wales last night has been hailed by pundit Lee Dixon.

The game was broadcast live on BBC One as England booked their place in the knockout rounds by finishing top of the group.

But Dixon was on co-commentary for the ITV highlights and hailed the assist by Kane which put the game to bed on 51 minutes.

Dixon on Kane

He said: “Part of your job as a winger is to come in on the far side.

“Harry Kane just whips it across the six yard box and there (Foden) is – switched over to the left – and it’s a tap-in.

“The ball was absolutely perfect.”

Kane is yet to score at this World Cup but he did the same at Euro 2020 and ended up on four goals and in with a shout of the Golden Boot.

Marcus Rashford has any many goals as anyone at the tournament now, with three, while Bukayo Saka is still floating around the race with his brace in England’s opening game.

Kane has largely played a supporting role so far, but it is promising for Gareth Southgate that England have scored nine times in Qatar and the captain has not got one yet.

That shows there are sources of goals all over this team and when Kane comes to the party, England will be even more threatening.
