‘Absolutely incredible’: Conor Coady believes £100k-a-week Everton player has been 'so, so good' all season

Conor Coady has lavished praise on Everton and England teammate Jordan Pickford before the start of the World Cup.

Coady was asked about the Three Lions goalkeeper at a press conference ahead of Monday’s game with Iran on the second day of the tournament.

He said that Pickford has been superb for club and country for a long time now as he prepares to be between the posts for England at a third straight major tournament.

Coady on Pickford

Coady replied: “He’s a top lad. He brings so much. We see him as a shot-stopper but as a person, he’s so, so good to have around as well.

“He’s been England number one for a while now and I think he’s been absolutely outstanding this season, I really do.

“I’ve been lucky enough to play in front of him.

“What he brings to us at Everton and when I played with him for England, I knew the quality he had and I knew the sort of character he had as well.

“Now I get a chance to experience it day to day. He’s a great person and a great friend of mine too.”

The £100,000-per-week international is such an important player to Lampard in his Everton side and he is vital for England too.

He has been Gareth Southgate’s man pretty much as soon as he took over and he has never let England down at all.

Pickford was sensational at Euro 2020 and we are approaching a period where he can become a national hero once again if he replicates that form.
