Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney has become an indispensable player for club and country.

The Gunners ace is a fan favourite at the Emirates Stadium thanks to his quality, hard-working attitude, and down-to-earth personality.

Likewise, Tierney is a star for Scotland, and on Friday, he helped his nation record a crucial victory in World Cup qualifying.

The 24-year-old Arsenal defender played the full 90 minutes against Moldova as Steve Clarke’s charges secured a playoff place via a 2-0 win.

Scotland opened the scoring in the 38th minute through Nathan Patterson’s first goal for his country.

Che Adams then doubled Scotland’s lead in the 65th minute, but the hosts had a chance to level from the penalty spot.

Eight minutes from time, Vadim Rata stepped up following Patterson’s handball in the box, but Craig Gordon saved the effort.

And then, Tierney weighed in with a brave goalmouth challenge to send the looping ball out for a corner.

“What a save! He’s got a really strong arm to it,” BBC Sport pundit Steven Thomson told Sportsound (12/11, 18:44).

“Kieran Tierney’s desire to clear the rebound is absolutely brilliant, top-class defending.”

Scotland round off their qualifying campaign against Denmark at Hampden Park on Monday.

Arsenal then return to action on Saturday 20 November as they take on Liverpool at Anfield.
