Reported Liverpool target Marcus Thuram was in Bundesliga action on Saturday as his Borussia Monchengladbach side played their first game since the league was suspended in March.

German outlet Express claimed in April that Jurgen Klopp’s Reds are interested in luring the 22-year-old striker to Anfield this summer.

Thuram, son of 1998 World Cup winner Lilian Thuram, has impressed for Gladbach since moving to the German club from French side Guingamp in the summer.

Despite starting out wide more times than up front, the 22-year-old scored 10 goals and nine assists during his 33 outings prior to the football hiatus in wake of the global health crisis.

The Express report claimed that Thuram, who is represented by Mino Raiola, would set Liverpool back around £44million.

In Saturday’s late kickoff away at Eintracht Frankfurt, Gladbach raced into a two-goal lead, with Alassane Plea placing his effort into the bottom corner after just 37 seconds.

Thuram then made it two in the seventh minute, slotting home from inside six yards with a simple ball cut across the box.

Gladbach ran out 3-1 winners in the end as Ramy Bensebaini added a 73rd-minute penalty for the visitors before Andre Silva pulled back a consolation for Frankfurt.
