Arsenal scraped past Watford last night with a narrow 1-0 victory at Vicarage Road. Considering Watford had 10 men for nearly 80 minutes, Arsenal fans might have disappointed with the performance.
But two important things happened; Arsenal picked up a valuable three points in their quest for third and they finally kept a rare clean sheet away from home.
Watford spent most of the game knocking on the door but Bernd Leno produced a solid display between the sticks.
The German stopper has not had much luck with clean sheets this season, especially away from home, but he was unbeatable last night.
One save in particular was a standout moment as he leapt at full length to his left to claw away Etienne Capoue’s goalbound free-kick.
But Leno was not given the man of the match award, much to the bemusement of many Arsenal fans.
Instead, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scooped the award after scoring the winner. The Gabon striker charged Ben Foster down and forced the Watford goalkeeper into a horrendous mistake for the only goal of the game.
But many Arsenal fans felt Leno deserved it more. Here are some tweets from Gunners fans reacting to Aubameyang’s award.
Absolute robbery from Leno

I love Auba but really? I’d have given it to Leno or Koscielny

Should’ve been Leno!

Absolutely robbed from Leno. Auba’s awful lately, he had many chances tonight and scored only because of Foster’s mistake. 🙄
