A number of Sunderland fans on social media have been commenting on Carl Winchester’s latest superb performance for the Black Cats.
The 27-year-old joined the Stadium of Light outfit from League Two side Forest Green in January, penning a two-and-a-half-year deal after moving for an undisclosed fee.
Winchester, a Northern Ireland international, has made 11 appearances to date for Sunderland, six of which have been starts.

He has become a crucial player for the Black Cats in the last few weeks, and on Wednesday night he was instrumental as Lee Johnson’s side won 2-0 at Accrington Stanley.
Winchester shone in the middle, winning plenty of challenges, keeping the ball moving and remaining calm in possession in what was at times a scrappy and feisty encounter.
And plenty of Sunderland fans on Twitter were eager to praise the midfielder following the game:
Sunderland have won seven of their last eight league games, drawing the other, and are now third in the table, five points behind leaders Hull and with two games in hand.
Their win over Accrington was their fourth clean-sheet victory in a row and sixth shut-out from their last seven in the league.
Sunderland broke the deadlock just after the hour as debutant Ross Stewart scored with a looping header 20 minutes after coming off the bench.
Charlie Wyke then made sure of all three points with a trademark header four minutes from time.
