‘Absolute pleasure’, ‘destined for the top’: Some fans think Spurs-linked 22-year-old is leaving

Reported Tottenham Hotspur target Eberechi Eze is now finished for the season and some fans believe they’ve seen the last of him in the blue and white hoops.

The QPR winger has progressed massively over the past few years, culminating in an impressive 2019-20 season during which he claimed 14 goals and eight assists in 46 Championship games.

Tottenham are said to have been tracking Eze for some time, with Spurs scout Brian Carey present to see the 22-year-old star in QPR’s 3-1 win at Preston in March, according to The Sun.

More recently, the Daily Mail reported in June that Jose Mourinho is “thought to be an admirer” of the player and that Tottenham’s interest remains.

Eze capped off a superb season on a personal level with a superb 61st-minute goal at West Brom on Wednesday, rifling into the top-left corner of the net after racing past his markers.

It’s not been quite as stunning a campaign for QPR, however, who have finished 13th in the table, and with their season now over, it remains to be seen what Eze’s future holds.

With Spurs and now Leeds United linked with a player who, according to former QPR assistant Marc Bircham, “goes past players easier than Raheem Sterling did”, many R’s fans aren’t optimistic about his future being in West London.
