Phil Hay has criticised the decision to reschedule Leeds United’s Premier League trip to Crystal Palace.

The Whites were meant to take on the Eagles at Selhurst Park on Saturday 23 April in a 3pm kickoff.

However, at the start of April, the fixture was moved to Monday 25 April, 8pm kickoff for television broadcasting.

The decision to change the game’s kickoff date was made with just over three weeks’ notice.

Leeds and Palace fans alike will have made travel plans that they’ll have had to change. Some may not be able to attend the game now.

In addition, the Whites will have 16 days between Saturday’s meeting with Watford and the trip to Palace.

Then, Leeds will have just five days to prepare for Manchester City at Elland Road.

Hay, speaking on The Phil Hay Show, wasn’t happy with the Palace decision.

“I mean, the fixture list is just mad, isn’t it, like,” he said around 40 minutes in.

“Come off the back of the international break and then two games and then you’re back into 14, 15, 16 days off.

“And I know it’s because the FA Cup and the rearrangement of Palace, which should be said is an absolute joke.

“I mean, if you were a supporter that’s going to that game it’s highly unlikely that when it was announced, which was early April, that you haven’t already given some thought to travel plans, especially if you’re based abroad.”

The frustrating decision to move the Palace fixture date comes as Leeds fight for their Premier League lives.

The Whites are six points clear of the bottom three, but Everton and Burnley have two games in hand on them.
