Aston Villa hammered Liverpool 7-2 yesterday as Ross Barkley made his debut for Dean Smith’s men in emphatic fashion.

The former Everton man and now Chelsea loanee made a big impression on his first start for the Villans. A magical and equally determined display showed what Barkley was all about and he was rewarded with a goal for his efforts, too.

Like so many of Villa’s squad, Barkley’s performance caught the eye of fans on Twitter, with a number of Villans taking time out to sing the praises of the England man.

Dean Smith has clearly got it right this summer in the market and along with Ollie Watkins, Barkley could prove a stunningly good acquisition.
