‘Absolute baller’, ‘boom’: Some fans erupt after ‘proper quality’ Arsenal 19-year-old joins on loan

Arsenal academy forward Trae Coyle has joined fellow Gunners youngster Zech Medley in moving on loan to Gillingham, and a number of their fans are delighted with the new arrival.

The 19-year-old will spend the duration of the 2020-21 campaign on loan at the Gills, who will be hoping to improve on their 10th-placed finish in League One last time out.

Coyle has come through the ranks at Hale End and penned his first professional contract at Arsenal in January 2018.

A pacy and powerful forward who can play anywhere in the front three, Coyle scored eight goals for Arsenal’s Under-18s as they won the U18 Premier League South title in 2018-19.

He trained regularly with Arsenal’s first team in the final weeks of the recently ended campaign, and will now get the chance to develop in a competitive senior league.

“Trae is a very exciting young talent and he is ready to further his football education,” Gills manager Steve Evans told the official club website.

“He is very highly thought of at Arsenal and his performances have made him a sought after loan player.”

Evans also admitted that Coyle had plenty of options in England, Germany and the Netherlands.

Needless to say, quite a few Gills fans are excited about the new arrival from North London:
