Aberdeen fans react to reports Scott Wright could join Rangers this month

Rangers are reportedly interested in signing Aberdeen winger Scott Wright and could get the Dons academy product on a cut-price deal this month with the Pittodrie outfit open to cashing in – and Aberdeen supporters have responded on Twitter.

Wright, 23, has impressed once again this season after breaking into the Aberdeen side during the last couple of seasons. The five-time Scotland Under-21 international has clocked up 75 senior outings for Derek McInnes’ side in all competitions.

This season, he has had a hand in seven goals during his 16 appearances – scoring twice in crucial Scottish Premiership wins over Hibernian and Livinsgton. He has returned from a Hernia issue that ruled him out for much of November and December.

The Daily Record claim Rangers have made it clear to Aberdeen that they are interested in Wright and are expected to secure a pre-contract deal for the winger – meaning he would join Rangers on a free in the summer. But Aberdeen are confident of a sale.

Rangers are to be owed £350,000 when Ross McCrorie’s loan turns permanent in the summer, but that fee could be used to subsidise a move for Wright in the coming weeks. Whether Wright waits until the summer or joins now, remains to be seen.

Aberdeen supporters have reacted on Twitter to the reports that he could leave for Rangers and the majority are fuming that he could leave Pittodrie – even this month. One fan said “That’s me done with football”.
