Manchester United star Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Everton striker Dom Calvert-Lewin have sent messages to new Aston Villa signing Ezri Konsa on Instagram, after the defender completed a move to Villa Park.
Goal claim Villa have spent £12million to sign the 21-year-old defender from Brentford, which sees Dean Smith link up with the England Under-21 international a second time after signing him last summer as the Bees manager.
Konsa impressed for Brentford last summer, clocking up 42 Championship appearances for the London-based side and helping them keep 11 clean sheets throughout the 2018-19 campaign.
Now, he will be tasked with helping Villa remain in the Premier League and he posted on Instagram his delight to have agreed a move to the Midlands club – and both Wan-Bissaka and Calvert-Lewin responded.
TBR’s view – Konsa solves Villa problem
At the start of the summer, Villa had been left with just James Chester as their only centre-back option. Now, Smith has moved quickly to agree permanent deals for Tyrone Mings and Kortney Hause.
The signing of Konsa now solves Villa’s woes at centre-half, with four Premier League standard centre-backs to choose from going into the 2019-20 campaign. It will be a fight between Chester, Hause and Konsa to partner Mings.
Konsa boasts enormous potential and at 21 years of age, he is only going to get better with Premier League experience.
