Aston Villa paid fairly big money in 2016 to snap up Aaron Tshibola. As reported by the Reading Post, Roberto Di Matteo sanctioned a move reported to be worth £5 million to bring the player in from the Madejski Stadium. He was known to his assistant Steve Clarke from his time at the Berkshire club.
However, when Di Matteo and Clarke were given the boot Tshibola effectively was as well.
Steve Bruce was not a fan and the midfielder had loan spells at Nottingham Forest and MK Dons before reuniting with Clarke at Kilmarnock.

He has since gone on to have another spell at Killie this season, which came to an end yesterday with a 2-1 win against Rangers. Tshibola sent out this message to fans at his loan club, saying goodbye in what sounds like a permanent fashion.
With Clarke expected to leave for the Scotland job, it could be Tshibola needs to look for another loan destination next term.
But perhaps he could still have a chance at Aston Villa. Dean Smith has not yet had a chance to assess the player and may want to take a look at him in the summer. The DR Congo international has a contract until 2020 so will still be considered.
A lot may depend on whether Aston Villa can make their way into the Premier League or not. If they do, Tshibola’s career at Villa Park is surely over. However, another season in the Championship and he may just have a chance.
