Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale was speaking to the press after the loss at Liverpool this evening and believes he could have done better for Sadio Mane’s opening goal.

The Reds took the lead through a Mane header and from there, simply never looked back as they dominated against the Gunners. For Ramsdale, it was a frustrating night, after he made a number of fine saves to keep the score down.

However, such is Ramsdale’s character, the Arsenal stopper fronted up to the Sky cameras after the game and admitted that he felt he could have done more to prevent Mane scoring.

“I think so, yeah. For my first fault. I’ve not seen it back and obviously it’s a very good header into the ground and the surface is wet,” Ramsdale said to Sky.

“Yeah, I think I can do better. I pride myself on my standards being high and it’s one I need to look on and improve on for the future.”

Ramsdale was aiming to become the first Arsenal goalkeeper to keep four clean-sheets in a row since Jens Lehmann. However, it was not to be, and Liverpool were simply too good in the end.

TBR’s View: Aaron Ramsdale harsh on himself in Liverpool loss

The Arsenal stopper might have been able to do better at times but in all honesty, he is being harsh on himself here. The goals Liverpool scored could all have been prevented before they even got to him.

However, it’s good to see his mindset is one of a player who wants to keep improving and challenging himself.

For Ramsdale, it was a learning curve. Liverpool are ruthless and at times, look like the very best team in the world. So, while he’s disappointed with the Mane goal, there’ll be better days at the office to come for Ramsdale.
