Aaron Ramsdale admits one Liverpool player has made him look a 'plonker'
Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has admitted that Liverpool forward Diogo Jota has made him look a “plonker”.
The Gunners stopper was taking part in Sky Sports YouTube feature Never Have I Ever alongside Rob Holding.
The Arsenal duo held up signs based on whether they had ever done or experienced certain things on or off the pitch.
One of those asked whether Ramsdale and Holding had ever been rinsed by a world-class opponent.
While Holding only named Philippe Coutinho, Ramsdale rolled off four names.
“Ronaldo, Aguero, Vardy,” began the Arsenal keeper.
“Jota, oh he sent me to the shop didn’t he?
“Oh yeah, for a keeper, the goals which you look at and think ‘made you look a plonker’ really!”
Jota has put four goals past Ramsdale this season.
The Liverpool ace scored his side’s second goal in their 4-0 win over the Gunners at Anfield in November.
Ramsdale then shut Jota out in their Carabao Cup semi-final first-leg stalemate on 13 January.
However, the Reds attacker then struck twice in the second leg a week later.
And in their Premier League return fixture at the Emirates in March, Jota opened the scoring in the 54th minute.
The Liverpool man took a shot towards the near post from a tight angle, which should’ve been a fairly routine save.
Ramsdale didn’t get enough on it to keep it out, the effort coming off his hand and finding the back of the net.
That said, it was a rare error from the 23-year-old, who has been superb all season.
Ramsdale has kept 14 clean sheets and conceded a relatively low 24 goals in 27 games for Arsenal this term.
