Aaron Cervantes has posted on Instagram after Rangers confirmed they had completed the signing of the 18-year-old goalkeeper from American feeder club Orange County – who play in the second tier of American soccer.
Cervantes, 18, has already broken into the senior side and has clocked up 17 appearances for Orange County – after coming through the ranks at his boyhood club. He kept five clean sheets, conceding just 20 goals.
Not only has he tasted senior football, but Cervantes has already clocked up four caps for USA’s Under-17 side at the 2019 World Cup, and USA Men’s National Team during the 2018 Four Nations Tournament and the 2018 Sportchain Cup in Spain.
Now, he has moved to Rangers with the Scottish side confirming a move on Wednesday. Cervantes himself took to Instagram to confirm a move, stating he is “flipping to the next chapter” and had a heartfelt message for his old teammates.

TBR’s view – What chances does Cervantes have of Rangers success?
The Gers boast an array of goalkeepers at first-team and Under-23 level. Allan McGregor, Jon McLaughlin and Andy Firth remain the club’s first three stoppers, while Robby McCrorie is out on loan – as is Kieran Wright.
Cervantes has plenty ahead of him in the pecking order if he is to make his senior debut and impress between the sticks at Ibrox. But, Rangers have boasted plenty of American talent before Cervantes – including Maurice Edu and DaMarcus Beasley.
Cervantes will be hoping he has as much success as those two, rather than the latest American player to play for Rangers in Matt Polster – who has since returned to his home country with Bruce Arena’s New England Revolution.
