A year on, could Arsenal now finally land Sami Khedira after Juventus release? – TBR View

Arsenal may finally be in a position to land German midfielder, Sami Khedira, with reports from Italy suggesting that Juventus are trying to sort out a mutual termination.

Calciomercato claims that Khedira is one of the players Juve are looking to move on this summer. The German has endured a torrid time with injuries this season, missing almost the entire campaign.

However, he will be hoping to be back and fighting fit soon enough. It could, then, mean that the Gunners finally have the ideal chance to land a player who Unai Emery courted last summer.

Emery was keen on adding the 33-year-old defensive midfielder to the squad but, ultimately, failed in his pursuit.

But things in midfield aren’t too much different now in the summer of 2020 and with Matteo Guendouzi potentially on the move, there is a spot potentially open in the squad for a central midfielder.

Experience in the middle could be key for Arsenal’s exciting young core

Arsenal has improved under Mikel Arteta and will be looking to get their hands on the FA Cup this weekend with a win over Chelsea.

Key to that revival has been Granit Xhaka. The Swiss star is playing very well for the Gunners and is seemingly a key figure in the system Arteta wants to run with.

However, Khedira oozes class and a winning mentality. Champions Leagues, World Cups, La Ligas, and Serie A titles show that the German is a serial competitor.

That sort of attitude is crucial in young teams like Arsenal’s. So, as the likes of Saka, Martinell, and Willock continue to make their way in the game, having an old head like Sami Khedira around might just prove to the ideal scenario.

On a free, with a point to prove, and with plenty still in the tank, Khedira is perfect for Arsenal.
