A Tottenham move for Marcel Sabitzer would surely end Gedson’s loan prematurely

Tottenham Hotspur continue to be linked with a January move for Marcel Sabitzer.

According to Sport Bild, the north Londoners remain keen on the Austria international, who has 18 months left on his contract with RB Leipzig.

That means Leipzig are under a little bit of pressure over the 26-year-old, who has impressed English audiences with his performances in the Champions League of late.

Apparently, the player’s valuation has already come down from £44 million to £27 million, and Spurs may like to swoop for the versatile midfielder.

And if they do that in January, it could well bring an end to one player’s time in north London.

Gedson Fernandes has been at the club since January, but rarely threatened in terms of nailing down a starting berth.

The star is on an 18-month loan from Benfica, but has made just 13 appearances under Jose Mourinho, and turned out just once in 2020/21 in the EFL Cup.

TBR’s View – The end for Gedson?

It is something that could be in the offing regardless, but any successful move for Marcel Sabitzer would surely see Gedson head back to Portugal.

The Leipzig captain has the capacity to play central midfield or from the right, which are the two positions Gedson mainly plays.

A Bola recently claimed Gedson, 21, could return to Benfica in January – something that has been discussed by the two clubs.

The move to Spurs unfortunately just hasn’t worked out, and most won’t be too upset to see him go, especially if Sabitzer came in.
