“A star player”, “Wasted” - These Everton fans react to Mirallas departure
Everton have officially confirmed the departure of Kevin Mirallas. The 31-year-old winger has joined Royal Antwerp on a free transfer. He has signed a one-year deal with the Belgian outfit.
The move ends Mirallas’ seven year stay at Goodison Park. However, he has not been a regular starter on Merseyside for a number of years. In recent seasons, the Belgian has spent loan stints with Olympiacos and Fiorentina.
However, Mirallas was at one time a key figure for the Toffees. He leaves the club having made a total of 186 appearances in all competitions, scoring 38 goals and registering 34 assists. He showed some real quality at times, and there are some highlights of his time on Merseyside. However, the 60-cap Belgium international failed to ever really fulfil his potential and make the most of his talent.
Clearly, this move was in his best interests. There is no room for Mirallas in Marco Silva’s squad. It was important for the club to simply get the winger’s wages off of their books. The fact that they allowed him to leave on a free transfer indicates how for removed from the first team picture he was.
Following the announcement of Mirallas’ departure, lots of Everton fans took to Twitter to react to the news.
Am i the only one who actually rated him?

His Everton career died a death but during his peak years he was fantastic and a star player. Nipped in with many crucial goals too. Served Everton well.

Best of luck to him and he had some good years with us – but it’s good to get his wages off the books now though seeing as we don’t need him anymore.

Some people may destroy Kevin on here, but I wish him all the best and thank you for contributing to the club.

On a serious note, the lad had talent, sorely wasted, and for me, he was gone the minute he wrestled that ball away from Baines.
