A look at the progress of Chelsea's key loan stars
Chelsea currently have 37 players out on loan, at clubs ranging from Ryman Premier Division (8th tier of English Football) to the German Bundesliga.
Not all of these players will ever spend a full season at their parent club, and the vast majority of them will never even make a competitive appearance for the Blues either.
While many of them aren’t going to go on and do great things. There are some who are impressing this year, and some who aren’t. Here are five of each…
Andreas Christensen at Borussia Mönchengladbach
While Andreas Christensen’s explosion onto the scene has been widely publicized, we shouldn’t take it for granted. His success has been profound to the point that he won Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Player of the Season accolade last year. His scintillating form, along with John Terry and Gary Cahill’s advancing ages, means that the 20-year-old Dane has one of the best chances of making an immediate impact on the Chelsea first team out of any of the 37 currently out on loan.
Tammy Abraham at Bristol City
At the beginning of the year, Abraham’s loan appeared just to be another unassuming transfer that would end up amounting to nothing, but halfway through the season, he appears to be proving all of the doubters wrong, with 14 goals in 27 appearances, in all competitions. While there is currently a backlog of strikers already in Chelsea’s first team setup, the 19-year-old possess all the qualities that are needed to become a quality Premier League striker.
