‘A joy to see’: Sheffield United star raves about Liverpool magician Sadio Mane

Sheffield United striker David McGoldrick has told the press ahead of Sunday’s clash with Liverpool that Sadio Mane is the pick of the bunch when it comes to their fearsome front three.

The Blades are rock-bottom of the Premier League having failed to replicate their surprise package tag of last season. Chris Wilder’s men have just 11 points from their 25 games during 2020/21 and are staring down the barrel of relegation.

Liverpool haven’t been in the best of form themselves since the turn of the year and United don’t really have much to lose this weekend.

Jurgen Klopp will be desperate for his team to secure a win as they fight to reclaim a place in the top-four of the Premier League.

McGoldrick will be looking to run salt into Liverpool’s wounds at the weekend and ahead of the game, he was asked about the champions’ front three and which player he thought was best.

Despite a below-par season by his standards, the Republic of Ireland star chose Mane ahead of Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino.

He told BBC Sheffield: “Mane, for me. He’s just a robot, working hard, skipping by people…a joy to see.”

He’s by no means the only player but Mane’s 11 goals this season represent a player struggling to get into the groove and replicate his form from 2019/20.

Last season he scored 22 goals and claimed 12 assists as Liverpool won the title at a canter and proved the club’s main man in attack.

The £180,000-a-week trickster makes Liverpool tick and when he is struggling, it’s clear that the team will struggle.

Of course, he can’t do it all alone and plenty of Anfield stars need to shake themselves out of their current slump.

Mane is the one though and if he can start to shine again, Liverpool’s season can be still rescued with a top-four finish.
