'A hard team to beat': Paul Merson predicts Leicester v Arsenal result
Arsenal legend Paul Merson has given his prediction for the Premier League meeting between the Gunners and Leicester this weekend.
Mikel Arteta’s charges head to the East Midlands on Saturday for the day’s early kickoff and the first fixture of matchweek 10.
Arsenal are in good form at present, boasting a run of eight games without defeat and looking much improved since the start of the season.
In addition, the Gunners have reached the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup after beating Leeds in midweek.
Likewise, Leicester made it through to the last eight following their penalty shootout win over Brighton.
The Foxes are unbeaten in five games in all competitions and are ninth in the table, level on points with 10th-placed Arsenal.
Merson, writing for Sportskeeda, believes the two sides will play out a 1-1 draw.
“Arsenal have shown marked improvement this month but they now have a few injuries to deal with,” said the Highbury icon.
“They’re a hard team to beat at the moment, and they know how to dig in when they’re not playing well.
“I thought Arsenal were outstanding against Aston Villa – it’s the best I’ve seen them play this season.
“Leicester City were very fortunate to win against Brentford last weekend.
“Brendan Rodgers has built a good team, however, and their performance against Manchester United is a testament to their ability.
“Arsenal seem to have learnt a thing or two about earning results in difficult games.
“And a point here would be a good outcome for the Gunners.”
