'A great player': Julian Alvarez praises West Ham star Manuel Lanzini

Julian Alvarez has praised Manuel Lanzini in an interview with Manchester City’s official website, picking the West Ham United star in a lineup made up of Argentinians who have played in the Premier League.

Alvarez is looking to become the latest forward from his country to make a big impact in England. He has already shown glimpses of his quality during his time with the Cityzens. And he may soon return to Eastlands with a World Cup winners’ medal.

Of course, West Ham favourite Carlos Tevez is one of those who helped pave the way for Alvarez. And it is no surprise that he was included as Alvarez picked an all-Argentinian XI from Premier League history.

But there was another player with connections to the Hammers included. Alvarez was full of praise for Lanzini.

Like Alvarez, Lanzini came through the ranks at River Plate. And he has now made 217 appearances for the Irons in all competitions, scoring 31 goals and contributing 27 assists in that time.

And Alvarez outlined just how much of a fan of the attacking midfielder he is as he named him in the side.

“As a midfielder, Lanzini. He’s a great player. He played at River Plate. I use to see him on TV when I was younger. He is a great player. In the match against West Ham, I was able to swap his jersey. That was nice,” he told the Manchester City official website.

Lanzini has been an outstanding servant during his time with West Ham. His form has fluctuated at times. But he certainly has that piece of magic up his sleeve. And he has created a number of moments West Ham fans will remember for a long time.

Without doubt, his stunning strike to complete that comeback away at Tottenham will go down as one of the finest moments in Premier League history.

Not only was it an amazing moment given how quickly West Ham came from 3-0 down, but it was also an incredible strike to beat Hugo Lloris.
