Journalist Pete O’Rourke has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur may still have a chance of signing Monaco’s Gelson Martins.
Reports suggest that Tottenham have all-but missed out on signing Leeds United winger Daniel James.
Earlier today, Sky Sports reporter Lyall Thomas claimed Martins was one of the names Tottenham were considering instead.

The Portugal international is keen to come to the Premier League, added Thomas.
Sky Sports News’ Live transfer blog (1.23pm) said Fabio Paratici and Antonio Conte met this morning to speak about possible deadline day targets.
Martins, 27, “fits the profile” of the type of player they want.
However, time is fast running out for Spurs to get a deal over the line.
And while O’Rourke reckons the deal is “still alive”, there’s not much time left for Tottenham.
“Yeah, I think it’s a deal that’s still alive,” he told GiveMeSport.
“It’s an option Spurs have got right now, I don’t see many other options available for them now.
“It looks like Dan James is heading to Fulham in search of first-team football as well.
“So with the clock ticking down, there’s not much time for Spurs to get a deal done for Gelson Martins.”
Martins was seen as a huge prospect after leaving Sporting Lisbon to join Atletico back in 2018.
But after an underwhelming season in La Liga, he then made the switch to Ligue 1.
Martins could provide decent cover for Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski.
As per the Ligue 1 website, he is ‘one of the most electric dribblers in Ligue 1.
‘Gelson Martins’ combination of outrageous technical ability and pace, leaves defenders for dead every weekend.’
