Arsenal fans react on Twitter to Dani Ceballos’s display

After watching Arsenal’s stunning midfield display at Old Trafford last week, Dani Ceballos would have been forgiven for feeling some additional pressure to impress ahead of his next appearance for the Gunners.

Ceballos’s second loan spell has yet to really ignite. And the form from the likes of Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny had meant that the Spaniard has had to bide his time a little more in recent times.

Unsurprisingly, it was Partey and Elneny who started Sunday’s clash with Aston Villa. But with the evening not going to plan for Mikel Arteta’s side and Partey picking up a knock, Ceballos was handed a chance at half-time.

Ultimately, it proved to be a nightmare occasion for the Gunners. Villa won 3-0 at the Emirates. And there were very few members of Arteta’s squad to emerge from the game with any credit.

Some felt that Arsenal really missed Partey after he was replaced. But several have suggested that Ceballos was one of the better performers.

The 24-year-old tried to show some intent when he received the ball from a teammate. And he did make one superb clearance off the goalline during the second-half.

It was not an evening in which any Arsenal player staked a claim to start after the international break. But some felt that Ceballos was the pick of the bunch.

And they have implored Arteta to start him alongside Partey at some point in the future.
