Pep Guardiola handed out three debuts in Manchester City’s Carabao Cup victory over Huddersfield, including landmark appearances for brothers Jaden and Reigan Heskey.

Forward Divine Mukasa earned his debut from the start and immediately provided an assist for Phil Foden. Pep Guardiola afterwards called his performance ‘unbelievable’ and an ‘incredibly top player in the pockets.’

As City headed towards the next round, Guardiola brought on under-21 captain Jaden Heskey, son of former Liverpool and Aston Villa striker Emile.

Sat close behind the dugouts at Huddersfield, Emile Heskey recorded the moments both of his sons entered their Carabao Cup match to make their City debuts.

Posting on Instagram, Heskey posted the moment Jaden entered the pitch with a soundtrack of Drake’s ‘Make Me Proud’. He then filmed Reigan’s entrance with the song ‘Proud of You’ by Kalieha.

Heskey Senior shared a number of other posts celebrating the two debuts, including one that showed a picture of the brothers hugging at full time, to which he added a loving emoji.

Emile is often found at his sons’ games in support, and has been seen recording key moments like penalties when he can. He has previously said that he tries not to offer much advice to the young duo, leaving that to their coaches.

Jaden Heskey gives verdict on ‘special’ Man City debut after Pep Guardiola praise

Pep Guardiola praised Jaden and Reigan Heskey after their debuts for Man City at Huddersfield, saying: “Today, six players from the academy made the starting XI.

“Two more came on, the Heskey brothers. I think their father and mother will be so proud of their kids. That’s really cool.”

Jaden posted on Instagram: “Very proud moment to make my professional debut for this club, even more special to make it with my brother.”

And in a slightly more subtle message, Reigan posted some pictures from his cameo with the simple caption: “Debut!”. Fellow academy graduate Nico O’Reilly responded to the post, saying: “Only the start.”
